So you want to know about us huh?

Hand and Paw was started in 2004 by our pack leader Jess Hendelman. Jess is trained 3D animation artist, graphic artist and web developer. She has worked on a few well known cartoons, and music videos. But her love for her dogs brought her to starting Hand and Paw.

A person with a passion for photography, focusing on nature and animals. You can find many of her photos on Flickr.

Very active in the dog world, Jess breeds, shows and works her Newfoundlands. As a K9 Search and Rescue (SAR) training officer, and professionally trained dog trainer Jess has dedicated her life helping others train their dogs. No, it doesn't stop there. Jess has also been very active in the world of pet nutrition. In 2006, Jess teamed up with Dr. Ian Billinghurst (the man behind the Barf Diet) and took Dr. Billinghurst vision and created a website to educate people on feeding a natural diet to their pets.

About the Hand and Paw designs

Frustrated that we couldn’t find a silhouette with the correct breed standard on products such as stickers, shirts, mugs, etc, brought us to creating Hand & Paw.  So, Hand & Paw was born.

It does take us a long time to create the breed silhouettes as we research each breed, the breed standard and winning show dogs prior to each breed silhouette creation. After we do a rough sketch of the silhouette we then will post it on our wall and literally stare at it for hours. Back to the drawing board we will then update the silhouette over and over until we feel the silhouette best represents that breed and standard. We will then send it off to top show breeders to be critiqued until we all are happy with the final draft. Hand and Paw strives to create accurate silhouette that represents the best of each breed.
